I saw some of these driftwood sculptures decorating the grass verge on the approach to Portland Airport when I was in Oregon last week. There is also an example of one of these horses in The Portland Art Museum – where I photographed it. Wonderful creations – so realistic they seem almost to move. The Oregon beaches and estuaries are covered with driftwood – frequently enormous entire trees – so driftwood sculpture is a significant part of the art and craft scene in the State ..incredible pieces everywhere.

  2. Thanks Jessica. She has sold her creations all over, including to The Eden Project; a fitting destination for recycled wood. Her gallery is open next weekend, from 11 to 5, see http://www.devonartistnetwork.co.uk. The horses’ tails were so lifelike it brings a lump to the throat!
