Norman motte and bailey with a stone keep, the remains of the largest castle in Devon. Overlooks the river Okement. There are ghosts.

  1. It was left to decay, apparently (after the owner Henry Courtenay was executed by Henry VIII). Maybe the hunting had also dwindled to low levels and people looked for wild boar elsewhere. Anyway, they couldn’t afford the bills.
